Appia now offers 911 Notification, MasterFax, International Calling for Mobile Phones, and much more.

In addition to the reliability, flexibility, and affordability you have come to expect from us, we are excited to offer a variety of new features.

Please contact your Appia partner or Appia channel manager for more details regarding any of the new features highlighted below.

Transport Layer Security

In response to the growing concern among our customers about security, we have added Transport Layer Security (TLS) to our hosted offerings. With TLS:

  • The connection is private (secure) because symmetric cryptography is used to encrypt the data transmitted.
  • The connection ensures integrity because each message transmitted includes a message integrity check using a message authentication code to prevent undetected loss or alteration of the data during transmission.
  • Future disclosure of encryption keys cannot be used to decrypt any TLS communications recorded in the past.

TLS is available now for hosted Metaswitch customers and will be added for SIP customers.

911 Notification

Someone in your organization calls 911. Emergency services are dispatched, but what happens until they arrive?

With 911 notification on our Metaswitch voice platform, a voice message and/or an email is sent to predetermined people in the organization, which allows them to attend to the person right away.

In this way, 911 Notification provides an essential layer of safety for people who make 911 calls – and an extra layer of security for the organization.

Meet Jeff Brown, Appia Support Technician

Jeff joined Appia in 2013. “Before I came to Appia, I was a cook at a restaurant kitchen but I wanted a career. Appia is a place that will give you a chance if you’re willing to learn and work hard.”

After a three-month internship, he joined the night shift as a Tier I technician.  Now a Tier II technician, Jeff trains new members of the support team and helps problem-solve more complex issues, such as call quality tickets that come into support. “We work together here. When the newer Tier 1 techs get stuck on something, we don’t just fix it for them, we take the opportunity to teach them how to fix the problem. That way they can fix it next time.”
